The municipality of Vidice lies about 10 km south-west of Kutná Hora. It comprises five villages. They are Vidice, Karlov, Nová Lhota, Roztěž and Tuchotice.

The main landmark in Vidice is the Church of St Nicholas, with its bell tower and cemetery. Roztěž Chateau is a private residence with the Casa Serena golf resort and an 18-hole golf course. It took its present form during a 1909–1911 reconstruction designed by architect Leopold Bauer, while František Thomayer laid out the surrounding park. Walks in the Vrchlice valley near the spa at Roztěž inspired J. K. Tyl to write Fidlovačka and the song Kde domov můj in 1834.
