Polní Chrčice lies about 13 km north-east of Kolín. The village is first mentioned in 1361, in connection with the Prague chapter.

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity, dating from 1878, is a cultural monument. A Neo-Baroque chapel of the Consecration of the Virgin Mary stands nearby. North of the village, the Chrčická stráň game preserve lies on Stráň hill, where fallow deer are bred; the Kozí hůra natural monument also extends into the area. Painter and visual artist Alva Hajn (1938–1991) was born in Polní Chrčice.
